Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel with Dunedin Railways on their Taieri Gorge Railway experience. It was a blustery day, and while the sun never made an appearance, the trip was worth every minute of my time and energy. You can read about my experience here, and enjoy this photo essay below.
“There was this woman on the train one day, with her husband, carrying one of these [souvenir] bears. And it was one of the old bears, ya know, not this one. So I asked her when she got it, and she says, “Joe, you gave it to me!” And I must have looked blankly at her because she said “Five years ago, we came on this train. It was right before I went into chemo. So you gave me this bear and said, ‘I want to see you and this bear back here in five years!’ And here we are.”” :: Joe, the train guard
“I’ve given a copy of the map to our driver, so we shouldn’t get lost!” :: Lyall, train manager and Voice
