Scotland’s Isle of Skye might be one of the prettiest places in the world. And I’m not biased – it’s made it onto many a list of most beautiful places. It’s a small island, accessible via bridge from the mainland of Scotland, and doable in a day or two. To get the real effect, though, you should absolutely plan to stay for at least three days. Take your time – explore – venture off the beaten path – and meet the locals.
Read on for more tips on what to do, where to eat and where to stay on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
where to stay
There are actually quite a lot of places to stay on Skye. B&Bs are the most prevalent, with hostels and high end hotels next. Several campsites are on the island too; check for dates as some may be closed during the winter. Locations with a * I or friends have stayed at and highly recommend.
what to do
Skye is super outdoorsy, and you’ll meet a lot of hikers. There are also plenty of art galleries and other non-strenuous activities, including a whisky distillery and castles. On the map, the art galleries are in purple. I did not list every single one, so for more you can visit the studio trails website.
where to eat
Similar to my post on the Outer Hebrides, many inns and hotels have restaurants or pubs attached. Once again, I haven’t listed most of those if I listed the hotel above. read about the food community on Skye here.
