WOW i leave for new zealand in two weeks from today. i’m starting to get a liiiitttttle nervous since i’ve still not started packing.
i also had a momentary panic of.. oh crap, i have all this stuff to get rid of. and i have a lot of stuff that needs to get organised before i go. right now, i’ve got my business plan stuff set up at my desk, along with print outs of the novel i’m writing. my “desk” is really just a table in the corner of the living room, so i know that my family will be much happier once i’ve cleaned up and put it back to rights. it’s a little messy right now…
i know i touched on packing last week, and i recently ordered the compression packing cubes, rather than just the plain ones i love.. don’t worry, those will come with me too — packing cubes are lifesavers. i’m debating whether i should take a checked bag plus a carry on, or if i should just make my carry on my computer bag. i’m flying fiji airways, and their luggage restrictions are tougher than big name airlines like delta or air new zealand.
i went through my closet the other day and weeded out tons of old clothes, books, shoes, and bags. i donated 9 bags of stuff to goodwill, which was awesome. i can finally see the back of my closet, but there’s still a TON of stuff. there were just some things i couldn’t part with, you know?
anyway, it’s starting to feel like i’m officially leaving. i turned in my notice at work, i’ve got one week to make some money (yeah, right) and head out. i still have to book a hotel in la for the night before i go, but i know that i can do that quick. someone asked me for my address, and i was able to give her my new zealand address (so, hey, mail there!?) since she’s in france and i doubt mail would get to me here before i go.
what else… i’ve sorted the phone situation out. i can have apple/at&t unlock the phone over the internet. all that’s required is that i back it up so it’s ready to hard reset it, then i can buy a sim card in wellington.
job-wise, i asked the guy i’m renting from if he could put me in touch with or at least recommend any restaurants, so i think i’ll print a few resumes before i go. i know that my resume is not the right format, but best to have something in print, right? i’m on the lookout for a cute computer case that will also hold some documents.
things i have to print and copy: my passport, my credit cards, work visa information, the lease i signed, flight information, and some bank account stuff.
while i love writing for my blog, i can pretty much guarantee that these next few weeks are going to be a little chaotic and there will probably not be too much new content up here. i’ll do my best, you know i will, but let’s stay connected through my facebook, instagram or twitter.
happy monday!!
