enjoy this post about a 121-year old bottle of whisky 🙂
this appeared in my flipboard newsfeed last week and i thought it was too cool of a story not to pass on.
construction crews who were repairing a stone bridge in kingussie, in the cairngorms, south of inverness and west of aberdeen, stumbled on a time capsule secreted in the bridge. contained in it were some old papers, including a newspaper with the date september 29, 1894, and what experts believe is a bottle of whisky. i will admit when i read the headline, i imagined a large 750ml bottle of whisky, but it turns out it’s a mini one. still, what an incredible find.
the items were all donated to the highland folk museum, in kingussie, which documents rural scottish life. (and, fun fact, was the setting for a scene in the first season of outlander, when dougal takes claire to collect rents.)
