i just bought myself a new lens — 70-300 — so i was super excited to take it to scotland and play with it. the shot below was one of the first ones that i took. i had gone to lunch with my friend L and we were sitting outside the gallery of modern art. i picked up my camera and aimed it at the dome. with a little maneuvering of my lens, this came out. i love it.
this shot below is the glasgow school of art. i love the rose details on the ironworks and i’m so happy that the camera can zoom up to that.
sigh. the glasgow cathedral. i took my friend S there when he came into town. we got accosted by a friendly guide, who took us through every single nook and cranny (thanks malcolm!) of the cathedral, but the detailing in the pews of the inner church caught my eye. a little blurry, but what can ya do.
more cathedral. the stained glass windows are incredible. this particular one is from a series of three that were done for the millennium by john clark, a former school of art student/lecturer.
urquhart castle. you’d never know that, but i loved the flowers.
a bench in the ness islands, in inverness. i loved the curves of the wood.
chain and wheel in stromness, orkney, overlooking the bay and the island beyond. stunning in the evening light.
tidal pools and rocks at the brough of birsay, orkney.
cliff edges at marwick head reserve, orkney. i just wish there was a puffin in the frame!
whisky barrels at the highland park distillery, orkney. more of these to come.
door detail on the kirkwall cathedral, orkney.
