the outer hebrides have a rather unique ecosystem, particularly in north uist and harris. it’s call the machair, and it’s predominantly considered to be the fertile, low-lying grassy plains, although some ecologists and botanists consider the dunes machair also. it was just incredible to see, and i wish with my whole heart that i could get back and sit there in silence, watching the dunes rustle in the scottish wind.
